The Hershey Community Chorus will host an open house on Monday, August 15, 2016, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. in the Community Room on the lower level of The Hershey-Derry Township Historical Society, located at 40 Northeast Drive, Hershey. All are welcome. This is an opportunity to meet some of the current members and hear about the upcoming Christmas season concerts. Light refreshments will be served.
The Hershey Community Chorus has been entertaining the Hershey and surrounding communities since 1934. Each year the Chorus presents at least two major concerts in the Christmas and spring seasons in addition to other appearances in Hershey and the surrounding communities. Chorus archives and recordings will be available for review.
This year the Chorus will be presenting two Christmas concerts. The first will be held on December 2, 2016, at 7:30 pm, in the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Hershey, 64 W. Chocolate Avenue, Hershey. The concert will be repeated on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at 3:00 pm, in the Sanctuary of Grace United Methodist Church, 433 E. Main Street, Hummelstown.
New members are extremely welcome, in all voice parts. The Chorus is truly a community organization. No auditions are required to become a member, just a desire to sing and belong to a great group of people. The Hershey Community Chorus will perform its Spring Concert, “For the Beauty of the Earth” on Friday, May 13, 2016, at 7:00 pm in The First United Methodist Church, located at 64 West Chocolate Avenue, Hershey, PA, and again on Sunday, May 15, 2016, at 4:00 pm in The Grace United Methodist Church, located at 433 East Main Street, Hummelstown, PA. This spring’s concert selections include songs about nature, nature in our lives, and nature created by God.
Admission to these concerts is $18.00 for adults and $10.00 for children ages 6 to 11 years of age. Senior citizens and group tickets are $15.00. Tickets are now available from any Chorus member, calling 508-4400, or emailing requests to info@HersheyCommunityChorus.org.
The Hershey Community Chorus, under the direction of James Hoffmann, performs concerts for the Christmas holiday season and again in the spring. Under Mr. Hoffmann’s direction, the Chorus has focused on offering a wide variety of quality, shorter choral works and thematic concerts, often engaging guest musicians to enhance the variety of the performances. Membership to this non-audition chorus is open to all voice parts.
The Hershey Community Chorus has accepted an invitation to perform with Barry Manilow in the finale of his ONE LAST TIME tour stop at the Giant Center in Hershey on Thursday, March 17, 2016. The Chorus will join Mr. Manilow and his band of 13 musicians and singers, in the finale which includes his hits “I Write the Songs” and “Copacabana”.
The Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award-winning musician’s career skyrocketed to superstardom when his mega hit song, “Mandy,” topped the charts in 1975.
After performing more than 400 concerts at the Las Vegas Hilton and Paris Las Vegas from 2005 through 2011, Manilow has limited his concert appearances. The ONE LAST TIME! Tour is a major undertaking and as Manilow said, “is my way of thanking everyone for their years of support…one last time!”

On Sunday, November 15, 2015, The Hershey Community Chorus hosted “Celtic Aire” an ensemble of “The Singing Sergeants” of The United States Aire Force Band, in a free concert for the public. Celtic Aire performed the concert at Grace United Methodist Church, Hummelstown, to a full house with standing room only.

The Hershey Community Chorus will present its Christmas Concert, “The Majesty of Christmas” at 7:00 PM Friday evening, December 4, 2015 and again at 4:00 PM Sunday afternoon, December 6, 2015 in The First United Methodist Church of Hershey, 64 W. Chocolate Avenue, Hershey.
Guest musicians accompanying the Chorus will be Saint Paul’s Brass Quintet of St Paul Lutheran in Carlisle, Ellen Hunt, well known Harrisburg organist, and Tim Rupert, percussionist.
Some of the selections to be performed by the Chorus include Daniel Pinkham’s “Christmas Cantata” and Randall Alan Bass’ “Gloria”, both accompanied by Brass, Organ and Percussion. Among the other selections are “Boar’s Head Carol”, “Chanticleer’s Carol” and some familiar traditional Christmas songs including “Deck the Hall”, “Home for the Holidays”, “Toyland, Toyland”, and other well known selections.
Admission to these concerts is $18.00 for adult, $9.00 for children ages 6 to 11 yrs of age, and free for children age 5 and under. Tickets will also be available at the door the days of the concerts.
The Hershey Community Chorus receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
